I was first shown the technique of monoprinting at the Studio Upstairs in Croydon in the autumn of 2019. It really appealed to me as I had a habit of repeating drawings, or returning to the same subject over and over. The monoprint gave me a chance to keep going with an image, or use elements from one image and transfer it to another context. This series explores my persistent themes of domestic trauma and mixes them up with the train journey I was making every Tuesday, from East Dulwich to East Croydon, to join in the art community at Studio Upstairs, just next to the Whitgift Centre.
